Steven Pasquale and Rachel Bay Jones will announce the nominations for the 2018 Lucille Lortel Awards, which honor the work of theatremakers Off-Broadway, April 4 (instead of the previously reported April 3). The two—both previous Lortel Award recipients—will reveal the nominations exclusively through Playbill via Facebook Live at noon.
As previously announced, the 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards will held on May 6 at NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts. The evening will posthumously elect composer Michael Friedman onto the Playwrights’ Sidewalk in front of the Lucille Lortel Theatre and will honor Tony-winning playwright and performer Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues) with a Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as celebrate the longstanding Off-Broadway company WP Theater for their Outstanding Body of Work.

Friedman, who passed away last fall, was a Lucille Lortel Award winner for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. His other works include This Beautiful City, Saved, The Fortress of Solitude, and Pretty Filthy.
Ensler recently wrapped up performances of In the Body of the World, an adaptation of her acclaimed memoir of the same name which was presented by Manhattan Theatre Club Off-Broadway. The monologue play, written and performed by Ensler, detailed her experiences working with women in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo and being diagnosed with uterine cancer
WP Theater was founded in 1978 and is the oldest and largest theatre company in the U.S. dedicated to developing, producing, and promoting the work of female-identified and trans theater artists at every stage in their careers. Lisa McNulty is artistic director.
