The concert was called They're Playing His Songs: The Music of Marvin Hamlisch.
The songlist included "Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows" (his first hit), "The Way We Were" and songs from "The Champ," "Ice Castles," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Frankie and Johnny" and the stage musicals A Chorus Line, They're Playing Our Song, Smile and The Goodbye Girl.
"Marvin was originally booked to play the McCallum that night," Tony Award-winning lyricist Zippel told Playbill.com. "Mitch Gershenfeld, president and CEO of the McCallum, asked me if I would put together a concert to honor Marvin on that night. Marvin had performed at the McCallum and many times and it seemed right to celebrate our friend on the night he was to have appeared."
The cast included Tony winner Lillias White, Tony winner Karen Ziemba, Tony nominee Christiane Noll and Jason Graae. Lucie Arnaz (who starred in Hamlisch's They're Playing Out Song) was a special guest star.
Christopher Marlowe was the musical director. Video clips bridged the musical numbers.
