The invitation-only event at the Peter Sharp Theatre offered performances by Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Liza Minnelli, Itzhak Perlman, Lang Lang, Michael Feinstein, Chris Botti, Maria Friedman, Brian d'Arcy James, Carter Brey, Essential Voices USA, and cast members from A Chorus Line and Hamlisch's final musical, The Nutty Professor.
Hamlisch, whose numerous compositions included A Chorus Line, They're Playing Our Song, Sweet Smell of Success, "The Way We Were," and more, died Aug. 6 at the age of 68.
The Juilliard School, along with Hamlisch's family and friends, will celebrate his legacy and are expected to announce scholarships named in his honor during the evening.
