Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Olivier Award-nominated and Critics' Circle Theatre Award-winning solo show Fleabag will make its New York debut at Off-Braodway's SoHo Playhouse this winter, in a production set to begin performances February 28, 2019 ahead of an opening night scheduled for March 7. Helmed by Waller-Bridge's long-time collaborator Vicky Jones, the strictly limited engagement will play through April 7.
Fleabag is written and performed by Waller-Bridge, who stars in the work's title role. Between strained relationships with family and friends and efforts to keep a struggling café open, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.
The show debuted at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival, winning a Fringe First Award. A run at London's Soho Theatre followed, with return engagements in 2014 and 2016 and a U.K. tour in 2015 and 2018. The work was adapted into a series by BBC Television in partnership with Amazon in 2016, earning Waller-Bridge a BAFTA Award. The series has been renewed by BBC and Amazon, and a second season is set to premiere in 2019.
Waller-Bridge is also the creator and showrunner of the BBC America series Killing Eve starring Sandra Oh, which was nominated for two Emmy Awards and is currently in production for its second season.
The creative team for Fleabag includes Holly Pigott (scenic design), Elliot Griggs (lighting design), and Isobel Waller-Bridge (sound design). The production is presented by Annapurna Theatre.
