If you needed another reason to tune into the CW’s groundbreaking show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, musical theatre fans, here it is: Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone is set to appear on an upcoming episode of the series, The CW confirms.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend follows Rebecca Bunch, a depressed New York attorney who impulsively moves to California to follow her So-Cal summer camp ex-boyfriend, Josh Chan. The musical comedy puts Rebecca’s struggles in the spotlight, and that includes her relationship with her mother, played by four-time Tony-nominated actor Tovah Feldshuh.
On October 25, Feldshuh posted on her professional Facebook page that she and LuPone would appear together on the show.
The CW says that “Patti will play a pivotal person from Rebecca’s past that she rediscovers when she returns to her hometown for a family celebration.”

Could LuPone be Rebecca’s aunt—a.k.a. Feldshuh’s character’s sister? No word on this yet, but all will be revealed during episode 210, slated to air in 2017.
