The Billie Holiday Theatre at RestorationART will present Omari Hardwick's HerO: A Work in Progress June 29. The show, co-written by Hardwick and Grant Sullivan and directed by Indira Etwaroo, explores Hardwick's personal journey as a black man in America.
A live musical ensemble led by musical director Arden Altino will underscore the unique blend of storytelling, poetry, rap, photographs, and video that will appear onstage.
“‘A true journeyman can never be too forgiving. For that is how and why they are able to journey,’ is a through line of HerO that has emerged from my life,” said actor, poet, and musician Hardwick. “To be able to launch this journey of my own one-man show that I hope will travel with me and evolve over the next decade at The Billie Holiday Theatre, a theatre home to the largest Black community in the nation—as a Black artist, that’s very special.”
Hardwick currently stars as James “Ghost” St. Patrick on the Starz series Power, for which he won a 2018 NAACP Image Award.
