Grammy Award nominee Tor Hyams and Adam LeBow, who both attended French Woods, in upstate New York, co-authored book, music and lyrics to the musical that traces their own experiences there.
Paul Stancato will direct the Oct. 6-16 run at the Signature Theater's Peter Norton Space on West 42nd Street.
Greenwood marks the first time McArdle (Annie, Beauty and the Beast) and her daughter Alexis Kalehoff (Broadway's Les Miserables) will appear in a full New York production together. They previously appeared together in regional productions of Les Miserables and Blood Brothers.
The cast of Greenwood will also include Cary Shields (Rent, Taboo), Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer, Aida), Mary Mossberg (The Baker's Wife) and young actress Alicia Morton, who followed in McArdle's footsteps in the title role of the 1999 television remake of "Annie."
Additional casting will be announced shortly. According to the authors, "Greenwood is an original musical comedy that follows its characters' journey through their late teens as well as a quarter-century later in the present day. The title comes from the name of the summer camp where the protagonists first met — a unique and nurturing environment where they found acceptance, creative freedom and love. The extraordinary experiences the young people shared at Greenwood left an indelible impression: it showed them who they really were. The paths of their lives after camp led them not only far from each other but also far from their true selves. Now, the modern social networking phenomenon and the milestone anniversary of a special summer combine to bring them back together so that they may reclaim their pasts and become the people they were meant to be."
Greenwood will have musical direction by Chris Haberl, orchestrations and arrangements by Brian Besterman, set design by Jon Collins, lighting design by Cory Pattak, projection design by Chris Kateff and costume design by Shana Albery.
