A handful of Broadway alums will portray some theatre legends in the upcoming limited series Fosse/Verdon. Dear Evan Hansen Tony winner Steven Levenson and Hamilton duo Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail are behind the FX project, which, as previously announced, will star Oscar winner Sam Rockwell as Bob Fosse and Oscar nominee Michelle Williams as Gwen Verdon.

Joining them as series regulars are Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz a Paddy Chayefsky and Margaret Qualley as Ann Reinking. Also on board are Bianca Marroquin as fellow Chicago veteran Chita Rivera, Kelli Barrett (this season’s Gettin’ the Band Back Together) as Liza Minnelli, SpongeBob SquarePants star Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, Tony nominee Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine, Byron Jennings as George Abbott, Aya Cash as Joan Simon, Nate Corddry as Neil Simon, Susan Misner as Joan McCracken, Evan Handler as Hal Prince, Rick Holmes as Fred Weaver, and Paul Reiser as Cy Feuer.

The Hamilton composer will executive produce with Rockwell, Williams, Kail (who also helms the pilot), Levenson (serving as showrunner and writer of the pilot), and George Stelzner. Also attached are Nicole Fosse—daughter of Fosse and Verdon—and Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler.

Miranda is also expected to compose music for the series, which will showcase the Fosse choreography that Verdon performed in such shows as Damn Yankees, New Girl in Town, Redhead, Sweet Charity, and Chicago. Their collaborations exemplified a show-business symbiosis that spanned before, during, and after their romantic partnership (the two married in 1960 and separated in 1971, but never divorced).

The series is currently in production and is expected to premiere in spring 2019.
