NBC 4 New York will go behind the scenes of the making of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s benefit single “Almost Like Praying,” which is raising funds to help relief efforts in Puerto Rico following the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria last month.
Released October 5, the single begins with lyrics to West Side Story’s “Maria,” before a lineup of stars recites the 78 towns in the U.S. island territory. Among the artists featured on the track are Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, On Your Feet! star Ana Villafañe, Broadway-bound John Leguizamo, Rita Moreno, Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos, and Miranda’s frequent collaborator Alex Lacamoire,
The special will air October 24 at 7 PM ET on NBC 4 New York and will also be live streamed on NBCNewYork.com.
Throughout the special viewers will be able to visit Hispanic Federation’s website (hispanicfederation.org) or call (866) 432-9832 to make direct donations for relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
Also featured on the single are Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Camila Cabello, Pedro Capo, Dessa, Fat Joe, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Ednita Nazario, Joell Ortiz, Gina Rodriguez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, PJ Sin Suela, and Tommy Torres.
