NASSIM, the newest work by White Rabbit, Red Rabbit playwright Nassim Soleimanpour, opens at New York City Center December 12. In a similar vein to Rabbit, the Iranian playwright’s newest work welcomes a rotating cast of guest actors to perform the play directly after lifting it out of a sealed envelope.
NASSIM explores the power of language, friendship, and stories to unite. Performances began December 6 and are scheduled through April 2019. Omar Elerian directs; tickets are on sale at nycitycenter.org.
The lineup of performers (the performer is revealed only on the evening of the performance) currently includes Michael Urie, Cush Jumbo, Tracy Letts, Brad Oscar, Jennifer Lim, Scott Adsit, Kate Arrington, Jessie Austrian, Reed Birney, Ewen Bremner, Michael Chernus, Linda Emond, Peter Grosz, Andy Grotelueschen, Geraldine Hughes, Ken Marks, Tedra Millan, Martin Moran, Sally Murphy, Annie Parisse, Armando Riesco, and Michael Shannon.
White Rabbit Red Rabbit was performed by a rotating cast of artists who performed the play only moments after being handed the script on their opening night. The play ran for more than nine months in New York and was performed by Whoopi Goldberg, Bobby Cannavale, Nathan Lane, F. Murray Abraham, Urie, and other actors.
The American premiere of Nassim is produced by Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, and Barrow Street Theatricals. The play was a commission of the Bush Theatre in London, where it had its 2017 world premiere.
