Miracle in Rwanda, the one-actor play by Leslie Lewis and Edward Vilga that depicts one woman’s battle for survival during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, will begin Off-Broadway performances April 4 ahead of an April 9 opening night at the Lion Theatre on Theater Row.
Rwandan actor Malaika Uwamahoro will star in the multi-character drama based on the life of best-selling Left to Tell author Immaculée Ilibagiza. George Drance will direct the Off-Broadway run.
Lewis, the play’s co-creator, stars in the current global tour of the production which will culminate in the upcoming Off-Broadway engagement.
The creative team includes Schele Williams (set design), Donna Lea Ford (costume design), Erich Keil and Gina Costagliola (lighting design), and Taiwo Heard (sound design). Broadview Phoenix, Magis Theatre Company, and Acuity Productions produce the Off-Broadway run.
