Michelle Aravena (A Bronx Tale, West Side Story) and Sean MacLaughlin (The Phantom of the Opera) will co-star in the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ staging of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock opera Evita this September.
Aravena, who won a Jeff Award for her performance as Anita in West Side Story at Chicago’s Drury Lane Theatre, will star as Eva Peron opposite MacLaughlin as Juan Peron, a role he played in the 2013 national tour of the Michael Grandage Broadway revival. They will be joined by Pepe Nufrio as Che, Nicolas Dávila as Agustín Magaldi, and Shea Gomez as Peron’s Mistress.
Evita runs September 5–30 under the direction of Rob Ruggiero. Charlie Alterman serves as music director with Gustavo Zajac as choreographer.
The cast is completed by Joey Barreiro, Maria Bilbao, Nathaniel Burich, Ben Chavez, Giovanni DiGabriele, Samuel Druhora, Carmen Garcia, Esmeralda Garza, Samantha Gershman, Julie Hanson, Jose Luaces, Ben Nordstrom, April Strelinger, and Tim Wessel.
The Evita creative team includes scenic designer Luke Cantarella, costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer John Lasiter, and sound designer Matt Kraus. Emilee Buchheit will stage manage the production.
