Ragusa succeeds Megan Mullally in the role of young Dr. Frankenstein's fashionable but chilly girlfriend Elizabeth, who surprises everyone by showing up in Transylvania. Mullally left the show after the Aug. 3 performance.
At the Hilton Theatre, she joins a principal cast that includes Roger Bart in the title role, Beth Leavel as Frau Blucher, Kelly Sullivan as Inga, Shuler Hensley as the monster, Fred Applegate as Inspector Kemp/Hermit and Christopher Fitzgerald as Igor.
Young Frankenstein has a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, based on Brooks' film, and music and lyrics by Brooks. Susan Stroman directed and choreographed.
Ragusa played Lilli/Kate in Kiss Me, Kate at Paper Mill Playhouse. Prior to that she received both Lortel and Drama League Award nominations for her performance as Corinna in Christopher Durang's Adrift In Macao at Primary Stages. Her Broadway credits include Urinetown (Penny/Hope cover), Ragtime (Evelyn), A Class Act (Mona), Titanic (Caroline) and Cyrano (The Novice).
