Even casual theatre fans may be familiar with Tony, Oscar, and Emmy winning director and choreographer Bob Fosse thanks to an instantly recognizable, idiosyncratic style of choreography, plus the long-running revue of his work, Fosse, and the Oscar-winning Chicago film adaptation. But many may not be familiar with his wife, collaborator, and muse, four-time Tony winner Gwen Verdon.

Played by Oscar and Tony nominee Michelle Williams, Verdon was the original triple threat of Broadway, winning Tony Awards for Can-Can, Damn Yankees, New Girl in Town, and Redhead. She also originated starring roles in Sweet Charity and Chicago, both directed and choreographed by Fosse.

In the clip above, audiences get a sneak peek at William's dynamic performance, equal parts ambition, cool confidence, and red-hot talent. And she nails Verdon's distinctive, husky cadences, to boot.

Also among those also set to appear in the series are Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, Ahmad Simmons as Ben Vereen, Kelli Barrett as Liza Minnelli, Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera, Norbert Leo Butz as Paddy Chayefsky, Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is an executive producer on the series, along with Thomas Kail (who directs the pilot), Dear Evan Hansen scribe Steven Levenson (who wrote the pilot and serves as showrunner), Fosse and Verdon’s daughter Nicole Fosse, George Stelzner, and Joel Fields. Andy Blankenbuehler serves as choreographer on the series with Broadway alum Susan Misner, with Alex Lacamoire as supervising music producer.
