Following an acclaimed, sold-out run at London's Young Vic, The Inheritance will transfer to the West End. Matthew Lopez's two-part play will begin performances at the Noel Coward Theatre (currently the home of Quiz) beginning September 21.
The limited engagement will open October 13 and is currently scheduled to run through January 5, 2019.
The play is set in New York City a generation after the HIV/AIDS crisis of the '80s and '90s, as a group of gay men struggle to connect to the past and maintain a sense of history.
The Stephen Daldry-helmed production opened in March at the Young Vic, where it is scheduled to run through May 19. Several members of the original cast—including Vanessa Redgrave, John Benjamin Hickey, Andrew Burnap, Paul Hilton, Samuel H. Levine, Hugo Bolton, Robert Boulter, Hubert Burton, Syrus Lowe, Michael Marcus, Kyle Soller, and Michael Walters—will reprise their performances for the West End bow.
Joining Young Vic Artistic Director David Lan on the producing team for the transfer are Sonia Friedman and Nattering Way.
Lopez is currently at work on both a film adaptation of his earlier play The Legend of Georgia McBride as well as a new musical based on Some Like It Hot.
