Three-time Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman will perform a one-night-only concert of Lenny & Steve: The Music of Bernstein & Sondheim September 18 at 7:30 PM at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston.
The concert, which played a sold-out London run earlier this year, explores the work of composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim and composer Leonard Bernstein. Lenny & Steve will compare and contrast their individual work, as well as their collaboration on West Side Story. The concert includes such songs as “New York, New York,” “I Can Cook, Too,” “Losing My Mind,” and “Send in the Clowns.”
Friedman, who is also a director, will stage the U.S. premiere of her acclaimed 2012 London revival of Merrily We Roll Along at the Huntington in September. Written by Sondheim and George Furth, Merrily will begin previews September 8.
Tickets range $25–$75. Visit huntingtontheatre.org.
