Miss Saigon’s 25th anniversary celebration in London, which was filmed in September 2014 before a live audience, is being shown at 175 North American movie theatres September 22.
The cast is led by Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer, Eva Noblezada as Kim, Alistair Brammer as Chris, Hugh Maynard as John, Tamsin Carroll as Ellen and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi. There is also a special finale that sees the 25th anniversary performance cast joined onstage by original cast members including Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga and Simon Bowman.
A Broadway revival is scheduled to open March 23, 2017, at the Broadway Theatre with the same leading actors, Briones as The Engineer and Noblezada as Kim.
Mackintosh told the Associated Press that he isn't worried that the screening will cut into Broadway ticket sales. “It encourages business,” he said. “This is the greatest cinematic trailer for a theatrical production that’s ever been produced. I could be wrong, but I defy anybody who loves the show and isn’t bowled over by the film not to want to go.”
The Miss Saigon screening is being handled by Fathom Events, and tickets are on sale here.
