News Lin-Manuel Miranda Discusses "Creative License" in Hamilton (Video) Hamilton creator-star Lin-Manuel Miranda sat down with Genius, the website of song lyrics, to discuss why he took creative license with some of the real-life characters and events in his critically acclaimed new musical.

Members of Genius, which describes itself as "the world’s biggest collection of song lyrics and crowdsourced musical knowledge," have spent the weeks since the release of the Hamilton cast album, going over the lyrics and comparing them with the historical record.

Miranda answered their questions in a series of blog posts, and also made a video explaining a major bone of contention, that the Schuyler sisters had no brothers (they did) and that Angelica was single and potentially available to pursue Hamilton (she wasn't; she was married).
