The event benefits HERO, a charitable organization that helps newly diagnosed and people living with HIV/AIDS.
Melba Moore, Garen Price Scribner and Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) will be honored with HERO Awards, given "to those organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to help the HIV/AIDS community," according to a press statement.
Tony winner Moore (Hair, Purlie, Les Miserables) will be honored with the Broadway HERO Award. Scribner will receive the John Adams HERO Award. GMHC will be presented with the HERO Partner Award.
LBGT advocate, communications consultant and NGLCCNY director Jonathan D. Lovitz will emcee. Grammy-nominated Moore will give a debut performance of her new single “Just Dance,” choreographed by Nathan Madden. Attila Joey Csiki and Tobin Del Cuore will perform a duet by Lar Lubovitch called “Concerto 622,” a legendary piece of choreography that was created during the AIDS epidemic.
There will also be performances from Ioannis Melissanidis, Michael Leon Wooley, Stephen Hanna, Michael Cusumano, Attila Joey Csiki, Tobin Del Cuore, Josh Green, Daniel Robinson, Patrick Boyd, Cristy Candler, Kelly King, Sean Michael Murray, Sean Stewart, Alina Fay, Marty Thomas & The Divas, Jose Sabastian, Tyner Dumortier, Alex Biegelson and Luis Villabon.
