The Drama League has announced its trio of honorees for the 2018–2019 season.
The 2019 Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award will be presented to The King and I Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara, who recently returned to Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre revival of Kiss Me, Kate.
Alex Timbers, the two-time Tony-nominated director of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Peter and the Starcatcher, who is doing double-duty on Broadway this year as director of both Beetlejuice and Moulin Rouge!, will receive the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing.
Writer, actor, and performance artist Taylor Mac, whose latest play Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus begins performances March 9 at the Booth Theatre, is to receive the Unique Contribution to the Theater Award.
The 2019 Drama League Award nominations will be announced April 17 from Sardi’s. The 85th annual ceremony will take place May 17 at the Marriot Marquis.
