Kaitlyn Black (Hart of Dixie) will star in the Off-Broadway premiere of Robyn Lynne Norris' musical comedy #DateMe: An OkCupid Experiment at the Westside Theatre in June. She will be joined by Megan Sikora (Thoroughly Modern Millie), Chris Alvarado (The Cool Kids), Jonathan Gregg (High Maintenance), Liz Wisan (Gloria: A Life), and Eric Lockley (Choir Boy).
Following a three-year run at Second City's Up Comedy Club in Chicago, the show will begin performances at the Westside June 20 ahead of a July 8 opening.
Part improv and part sketch comedy, #DateMe follows what happens next after Norris—in an attempt to better understand the dating world—creates 38 “undateable” profiles on the popular dating site OkCupid.
Developed with Diane Alexander and directed by Lorin Latarro (Waitress), the show features lyrics by Norris, Frank Caeti, Amanda Blake Davis, and Bob Ladewig, with original music by Sam Davis.
Jillian Gottlieb and Jonathan Wagner will be the understudies Off-Broadway.
The creative team features David Arsenault (scenic design), Vanessa Leuck (costume design), Travis McHale (lighting design), Kevin Heard (sound design), Sam Hains (projection and interconnectivity designer), and Jonathan Mastro (music director). Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting.
#DateMe is produced Off-Broadway by Elizabeth Williams and Alexander with Remmel Dickinson, Benjamin Lowy, and Adrian Salpeter.
