News Josh Tobiessen Debuts New Comedy The Election Day playwright returns Off-Broadway with Lone Star Spirits.

The Off-Broadway theatre company Crowded Outlet presents the New York premiere of Lone Star Spirits, a new comedy by Josh Tobiessen (Election Day) about a woman who finds herself stranded in a liquor store and troubled by a the ghosts of her past.

With direction by Wes Grantom, performances began June 3 at the 4th Street Theatre and are scheduled to continue through June 19.

The cast includes includes Mikaela Feely-Lehmann (Perfect Arrangement, Cyrano de Bergerac), KeiLyn Durrel Jones (Love in the Wars, Jessica Jones), Martin LaPlatney (Pretty Hunger, Elementary), Amelia McClain (Noises Off, Inside Llewyn Davis) and Aaron Roman Weiner (Fool for Love, The Americans).

“A trip home gets wildly out of hand when Marley returns to introduce her fiancé to her estranged father,” state production notes. “Hoping for a quick visit, she finds herself stranded in a liquor store haunted by her football hero ex-boyfriend, a single mom insistent on a girls’ night out, and the ghost of the bear-wrestling pioneer who founded their town. Lone Star Spirits is a comedy about those who leave, those who stay, and raising a glass to the ghosts of your past.”

Lone Star Spirits has set design by D'Vaughn Agu, costume design by Amy Pedigo-Otto, lighting design by Driscoll Otto, sound design by Josh Millican and original music by Phil Pickens.
