John Malkovich, the two-time Academy Award-nominated stage and screen star who has appeared on Broadway in Burn This and on screen in Dangerous Liaisons and Being John Malkovich, is set to return to the West End for the first time in 30 years. He will star as the Harvey Weinstein-inspired central character in the world premiere of David Mamet's latest play, Bitter Wheat.
Also directed by Mamet, the drama will begin performances June 7 at the Garrick Theatre and officially open June 19.
Malkovich will play producer Barney Fein; joining him on stage will be Doon Mackichan (Smack the Pony) and Ioanna Kimbook. Additional casting will be announced later. Set and costume design is by Christopher Oram. Lighting is by Neil Austin.
Mamet's plays include Glengarry Glen Ross, Oleanna, and American Buffalo. Bitter Wheat is produced by Jeffrey Richards and Smith & Brant Theatricals.
