Hana S. Sharif has been named the new artistic director of The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis beginning in June 2019. She will take over from Steven Woolf, who has held the position for 30 years.

Sharif, a playwright, director, and producer, is currently the associate artistic director at Baltimore Center Stage, where she has directed productions of The Christians, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Pride and Prejudice.
Previous positions include the former associate artistic director, director of new play development, and artistic producer at Hartford Stage; program manager of the ArtsEmerson Ambassador Program; developmental producer/tour manager of Progress Theatre’s musical The Burnin’; and co-founder and artistic director of Nasir Productions.
She is the recipient of the 2009–10 Aetna New Voices Fellowship and Theatre Communications Group (TCG) New Generations Fellowship, as well as DCArts Awards, and serves on the board of directors for the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance and Sprott Foundation.
