Broadway Cares has just unveiled its 2016 Broadway Snow Globe, which was created by Tony-nominated and Emmy Award-winning Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen scenic designer David Korins.
Korins offers an exclusive look into his design process for the globe that features a rhinestone star with a banner proclaiming, “Give my regards to Broadway,” while the logos from more than 20 Broadway musicals decorate snow-covered buildings in Times Square. In addition, this year’s globe plays “Give My Regards to Broadway.” It can be pre-ordered here.
“For years I've watched the wonderful organization BC/EFA and all the incredibly important work it does for our community,” Korins said. “So, naturally, I was honored when they asked me to create this year’s edition of the annual snow globe. We wanted to give the gift of New York City wrapped inside a winter wonderland and combine it with the iconic gold star from the stage door to tie it in with the theatre community. I thought it would be interesting and playful to have a famous quote from the theatre circling the city that this community is intrinsically connected to.”
