The cast and creators of SpongeBob Squarepants are heading into their final weeks of performances at the Palace Theatre with encouraging box office figures.

The production brought in $975,286 for the week ending September 2. While that number doesn't surpass the production's million dollar benchmark, it's an encouraging figure for the well-received musical that will end its run September 16 while the Palace Theatre is closed for the next three years as part of a major real estate redevelopment project. A national tour will follow.

The new musical Pretty Woman, which drew a mixed response from Broadway critics last month, proves that its brand is still a major draw for fans of the 1990 Julia Roberts-Richard Gere film. The musical broke its own box office record for the third week in a row at the Nederlander Theare, earning $1,219,728 leading to Labor Day Weekend.
