The Vineyard Theatre honored Michael Mayer at its 35th anniversary gala at the Edison Ballroom May 14. The Tony-winning director has worked with the Off-Broadway theatre for nearly 25 years on a number of plays and musicals, including Brooklynite, of which he was also a co-book writer, True History & Real Adventures, Antigone in New York, and America Dreaming.

Mayer, a Tony winner for his direction of Spring Awakening, will return to Broadway this summer with the Go-Go’s musical Head Over Heels, as well as in 2019 with the Adam Diver-led revival of Burn This.
Combining DIY robotics, heartfelt storytelling, and traditional magic, Mario the Maker Magician’s show inspires kids and families to embrace the joy of making.
Surrounded by period accurate 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
