The world premiere of Jordan E. Cooper’s Ain’t No Mo’ opened at The Public Theater March 27 after beginning preview performances March 12. The new play, told through a series of vignettes, is a vibrant satirical odyssey portraying the great exodus of Black Americans out of a country plagued with injustice.

Ain’t No Mo’ is helmed by director Stevie Walker-Webb and stars Cooper in the role of Peaches. Rounding out the cast are Marchánt Davis (Black History Museum), Fedna Jacquet (Gloria: A Life), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Bull in a China Shop, Ain’t No Mo’ at Public Studio), Ebony Marshall-Oliver (Seussical), and Simone Recasner (Ain’t No Mo’ at Public Studio). Hermon Whaley Jr. (Romeo and Juliet) is the standby for Peaches (Cooper's role) and performs Sunday matinees.

The new play features scenic design by Kimie Nishikawa, costume design by Montana Levi Blanco, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Emily Auciello, and hair, wig, and make-up design by Cookie Jordan.
