Encores! celebrated its presentation of Call Me Madam at New York City Center following the final performance on February 10. The concert production, starring Tony nominee Carmen Cusack as Sally Adams, was a part of the midtown venue’s 75th season.
The show, featuring a score by Berlin and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, sends up political discourse as a socialite is named U.S. ambassador to the (fictional) country of Lichtenburg. Encores! first put on the show in its second season in 1995. The new Encores! presentation featured choreography by Denis Jones and music direction by Rob Berman.
