Red, which begins previews May 4, is the first U.K. revival since Grandage directed the premiere at the Donmar Warehouse in 2009. The production subsequently played Broadway, winning six Tony Awards including Best Play.

Alfred Molina will reprise his Tony-nominated performance as American abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko with Alfred Enoch (How To Get Away With Murder) in the role of Ken. Opening is scheduled for May 15 at the Wyndham’s Theatre, with performances continuing through July 28.

The Lieutenant of Inishmore will begin previews June 23 at the Noël Coward Theatre prior to an official opening July 4. Aidan Turner (The Plough and The Stars, The Clinic) will star as Mad Padraic, a terrorist deemed too violent to be a member of the IRA. The play, which premiered at the RSC in 2001, will continue through September 8.

The plays will offer over 40,000 seats—25 percent of the total capacity—priced at £10, continuing the company’s access policy and its commitment to developing new audiences.

In a statement, Grandage said, “This announcement continues our commitment to producing great plays in the West End with accessible pricing at the core of everything we do. I am looking forward to working with these exciting actors on two brilliant plays in two of the most beautiful playhouses in London.”
