Broadway News Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune to Close Early on Broadway The Terrence McNally play, starring Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon, will wrap up its limited run in July.

The Broadway revival of Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, directed by Arin Arbus, will play its final performance at the Broadhurst Theatre July 28. The two-hander, which stars six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon, was originally scheduled to play through August 25.

The production officially opened May 30 after beginning previews May 4.

Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune debuted Off-Broadway in 1987 and was later seen on Broadway in 2002. The play follows an evening spent between a waitress and a short-order cook, whose first date turns into something more.

The creative team for the revival includes Riccardo Hernandez (sets), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), Nevin Steinberg (sound), J. Jared Janas (hair, wig, and makeup), Laurie Goldfeder (production stage manager), and 101 Productions, Ltd. (general manager).
