The Broadway revival of Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, directed by Arin Arbus, officially opens May 30 at the Broadhurst Theatre. Starring in the two-hander are Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Audra McDonald and two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon.
Performances began May 4 for a limited run scheduled through August 25.
Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune debuted Off-Broadway in 1987 and was later seen on Broadway in 2002. The play tells the story of a waitress and a short-order cook's first date that turns into something more.
The creative team for the Broadway revival includes Riccardo Hernandez (sets), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting), Nevin Steinberg (sound), J. Jared Janas (hair, wig, and makeup), Laurie Goldfeder (production stage manager), and 101 Productions, Ltd. (general manager).
