A new musical adaptation of Peter Pan, featuring a score by up-and-coming U.K. songwriter Ella Grace and a book by Los Angeles-based playwright Roger Q. Mason, officially opened June 1 at Georgia’s Serenbe Playhouse.
Billed as Peter Pan: A World Premiere Musical Pirate Adventure, the immersive production takes place on a pirate ship perched on a creek bed located within Serenbe’s Mado Hideaway.

Drama League Directing Fellow Michael Alvarez directs a cast of six actors to bring J.M. Barrie’s characters to life. Featured are Aaron Schilling as Peter Pan, Alexandria Joy as Tinker Bell, Jeremy Gee as Captain Hook, Cullen Gray as Smee, and Destiney Freeman and Karley Rene doubling as Lost Boys and Pirates.
The creative team includes Bubba Carr (choreographer), Ed Thrower (music director), Monty Davis (fight choreographer), Scott Sargent (scenic designer), Alan Yeong (costume designer), Joel Coady (sound designer), and Jillian Haughey (properties designer).
Known for ambitious, site-specific productions that utilize the natural settings of the sustainable living community known as Serenbe—a progressive 40,000-acre community dedicated to sustainable living tucked away in Georgia’s Chattahoochee Hill Country—the Serenbe Playhouse programmed its 2018 season with productions that incorporate natural bodies of water found throughout its protected green spaces. Brian Clowdus serves as Serenbe's artistic director.
