The Broadway production of Bernhardt/Hamlet, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck, began performances at the American Airlines Theatre August 31 ahead of an official opening September 25. The world premiere from Roundabout Theatre Company, starring Janet McTeer, Dylan Baker, and Jason Butler Harner, is directed by Tony nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel.
Bernhardt/Hamlet tells the true story of the lavish, late-19th-century production of Hamlet starring Sarah Bernhardt in her most ambitious outing.
The cast also features Dylan Baker as Constant Coquelin and Jason Butler Harner as Edmond Rostand, along with Matthew Saldivar as Alphonse Mucha, Nick Westrate as Maurice, Paxton Whitehead as Louis, Ito Aghayere as Rosamond, Brittany Bradford as Lysette, Aaron Costa Ganis as Raoul, and Triney Sandoval as Francois.
The creative team includes Beowulf Boritt (set design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), and Fitz Patton (original music and sound design).
