Get an exclusive glimpse into Cleopatra, the immersive, new pop musical taking over New York City's Chelsea Music Hall. In the video above, Nya, who stars as the legendary Queen of the Nile, Alexia Sielo, and Audrey Rose Young perform an a cappella version of "On Top."
Cleopatra begins performances October 23. Instead of a band, the music is mixed live each night by a DJ, immersing the audience into a show that fuses dance, theatre, and nightlife.
Directed and choreographed by JT Horenstein, the pop musical features music and lyrics by Jeff Daye and lyrics by Laura Kleinbaum.
The cast also features Christian Brailsford as Marc Antony, Sydney Parra as Iris Parra, and Corbin Payne as Octavian. Brendan Henderson, Alison Ingelstrom, Yuriko Miyake, Cody Mowrey, Sielo, Timothy Wilson, and Young all play Citizens of Alexandria.
Watch Parra perform "Can't Breathe" from Cleopatra, with guitarist AJ Smith in the video below.
The creative team for Cleopatra includes costume designer and stylist Nicolas Putvinski, scenic designer Christopher Browser, lighting designer Joe Cantalupo, sound designer Drew Levy, electronic music designer Lloyd Kikoler, and vocal arranger Brian Usifer.
Daye and lyricist Kleinbaum previously collaborated on Cleopatra: The New Pop Experience, which played a limited run at Theatre for the New City in 2017 (additional lyrics were by Drew Fornarola).
