New York Theatre Barn will present staged readings of two new musicals in development on December 3 at the Cell, including Till Soon, Anne, a new work based on a true story of a young woman at the end of her journey with terminal brain cancer who plans a final celebration with her friends and family.
The musical has a book and lyrics by actor Christine Toy Johnson (Come From Away) and music by Bobby Cronin. Erin Mackey (Wicked, In Transit) and Wade McCollum (Ernest Shackleton Loves Me) will co-star.
Also planned is How the Westons Won, by R.C. Staab, Aaron Latina, and Dave Ogrin, which is slated for a full immersive production later this year. Joe Barros directs the work about two teens who get swept up in an adventure when their Wild West toy diorama comes to life.
The presentation will feature Brian Charles Rooney, Heather Jane Rolff, Melody Allegra Berger, Danny Bevins, Genesis Collado, John E. Elliot, Andres Gallardo Bustillo, Bethany Xan Jeffery, Jen Olivares, Nathan Richardson, James Roberts, Sydney Shuck, Jonathan David Steffins, Grace Strickland, and Timothy Yang.
A full production will follow December 14–23 at the Jefferson Market Library.
Presentations will take place at 7 PM and 9 PM. The Cell is located at 338 West 23rd Street. For tickets, priced $20, visit NYTheatreBarn.org.
