The series will kick off with Cabin in the Sky from Feb 10-14, 2016. The musical features music by Vernon Duke, lyrics by John La Touche and book by Lynn Root. Last seen on Broadway in 1940, it follows the story of Little Joe Jackson who, after a knife fight in a saloon, is given six more months on earth to prove he deserves to live; blending traditional gospel numbers with modern dance pieces. Next up is the Tony-winning 1776, with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, set to run March 30-April 3. The original 1969 production played 1,217 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. It tells the story of America’s founding fathers and their quest for independence.
Do I Hear a Waltz? will conclude the run, slated for performances May 11-15. Based on Arthur Laurents' play The Time of the Cuckoo, it tells the romantic tale of a woman who takes a trip to Venice and finds love and her true self.
