Broadway News Derek Klena and Caroline O’Connor Set Final Date in Broadway’s Anastasia Klena and O’Connor originated the roles of Dmitry and Lily in the Broadway adaptation of the animated 1997 film.

Original Broadway cast members Derek Klena and Caroline O'Connor, who created the roles of Dmitry and Lily in the stage musical adaptation of Anastasia, will play their final performances in the production March 25 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Replacements for the roles of Dmitry and Lily have not been announced.

O’Connor, who is an Oliver Award nominee, is slated to star in a London revival of the Kander and Ebb musical The Rink at the Southwark Playhouse in May. Klena's next project has not been announced.

Anastasia features a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and an all-new book by Tony winner Terrence McNally. The production opened on Broadway in April 2017.

The Broadway production is based on the 1997 Fox animated feature film, which Ahrens and Flaherty also scored. The songwriters earned an Academy Award nomination for “Journey to the Past” from the score.

Anastasia stars Christy Altomare as Anya, Max von Essen as Gleb, John Bolton as Vlad, and 2017 Tony nominee Mary Beth Peil as Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna.
