Dear Evan Hansen Star and Tony Winner Rachel Bay Jones Joins Playbill’s November Cruise
The 2017 Tony-winning performer will set sail aboard Broadway on the Danube River with Michael Feinstein.
In June, Rachel Bay Jones won a Tony Award for her heart-wrenching performance in Broadway’s smash hit Tony-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen. Come November, she joins Playbill’s roster of stars for Broadway on the Danube River with Michael Feinstein November 3–13, 2017.
Jones first made a splash on Broadway at the age of 19, understudying the lead in Meet Me in St. Louis. After touring across the country with such shows as Grand Hotel and Fiddler on the Roof, she returned to Broadway in 2009 in the Tony-winning Best Revival of Hair. She performed alongside Patti LuPone and Brian Stokes Mitchell (both Playbill Travel alum!) in Broadway’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown before wowing audiences with her sensitive and nuanced performance of Catherine in the 2011 Tony-winning Best Revival of Pippin. She also starred in Pasek and Paul’s A Christmas Story on Broadway.

Now, the actor stuns audiences eight shows a week as the mother to Tony winner Ben Platt’s cripplingly anxious Evan Hansen. Her rendition of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s “So Big/So Small” regularly brings the house to tears and bridges a gap between young theatregoers and their parents. Passengers aboard this fall’s cruise will have a chance to hear Jones in an intimate solo performance aboard the beautiful riverboat.
We are thrilled to have Jones join our already stellar lineup of talent for Broadway on the Danube River with Michael Feinstein, which includes—in addition to Feinstein—three-time Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald, three-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch, two-time Tony nominee Brandon Uranowitz, two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber, Drama Desk nominee Julia Murney and music director Seth Rudetsky.
The river cruise floats through the beautiful countryside, vibrant culture, and quaint towns along the Danube River, beginning in Vienna and traveling through the lush hills of Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary. In addition to evening performances, cocktail parties with the stars, autograph sessions, and Rudetsky’s famous Chatterbox interviews, guests will have the opportunity to participate in excursions to the setting of The Sound of Music, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and more. Not to mention, you’ll sail in the lap of luxury aboard Crystal Cruises’ intimate yet decadent yacht, the Crystal Mozart.
