David Cale in We're Only Alive for a Short Amount of Time

We're Only Alive for a Short Amount of Time, a new musical memoir from David Cale (co-written with Matthew Dean Marsh), begins performances at The Public Theater June 13. The production, helmed by Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls, arrives Off-Broadway following a Chicago debut last fall.

In the show, Cale reflects on a childhood spent escaping from his parents' unhappy marriage by singing and taking care of birds in the backyard. He is accompanied by a six-piece orchestra.

We're Only Alive for a Short Amount of Time will officially open at The Public June 27 for a run scheduled through July 14.

The Off-Broadway production features scenic design by Kevin Depinet; costume design by Paul Marlow; lighting design by Jennifer Tipton; sound design by Mikhail Fiksel; and arrangements and music direction by Marsh. Visit publictheater.org for tickets and more information.
