The television industry came together in Los Angeles September 17 to celebrate the 70th annual primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. As the ceremony continued (broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater beginning at 8 PM ET), a number of stage actors took to the stage to collect 2018 Emmy Awards.

Rachel Brosnahan, seen Off-Broadway as Desdemona in the 2016 New York Theatre Workshop production of Othello, took home the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her starring turn in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The show was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino took home awards for writing and directing. With Alex Borstein also winning Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was the most awarded show of the evening.

Broadway-bound Tony nominee Jeff Daniels (returning to Broadway this season in To Kill a Mockingbird) was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in Godless.

Daniels was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in The Looming Tower. A number of stage actors were nominated in the category, with the 2018 Emmy Award going to Broadway and Glee alum Darren Criss for his starring turn in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (which also took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series).

The other nominees in the category for Lead Actor included Tony nominee Antonio Banderas for Genius: Picasso, Benedict Cumberbatch for Patrick Melrose, Jesse Plemons for Black Mirror’s “USS Callister,” and John Legend for his title performance in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

Peter Dinklage, seen Off-Broadway in Classic Stage Company’s A Month in the Country, was awarded the Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his long-running role in Game of Thrones. Dinklage, who was already a two-time Emmy winner for his performance as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, also starred in Cyrano at Goodspeed earlier this summer.

Merritt Wever, seen Off-Broadway in 2015 in The Nether, was awarded the Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in Godless.

Henry Winkler, who was first nominated for an Emmy in 1976 for his role as The Fonz on Happy Days, took home the award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Gene Cousineau in the HBO show Barry. Winkler has been on Broadway in The Performers, The Dinner Party, and 42 Seconds From Broadway. Barry’s star, Bill Hader, took home the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series alongside Winkler.

John Mulaney, playwright and star of Oh, Hello on Broadway (co-written with and co-starring Nick Kroll) was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City.

Tony-winning director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot: The Musical) was awarded the Emmy Award for his directing work on The Crown (Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series), and The Boys in the Band producer Ryan Murphy took home the Emmy award for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series or Movie or Dramatic Special for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
