Darren Criss, Michael Urie and Ramin Karimloo are the latest performers to join the star-studded cast of White Rabbit Red Rabbit, performing August 29, August 22 and August 1, respectively.
They join the previously announced July performers: How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, performing July 25 and July 18, respectively.
The acclaimed solo show, White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour, plays Monday nights at the Westside Theatre with a rotating cast. Weekly, a different actor is handed a script to perform without the help of a director, rehearsals or a set. Previous performers include Nathan Lane, Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Wilson, Brian Dennehy, Wayne Brady, Mike Birbiglia, Cynthia Nixon, Kyra Sedwick, Martin Short, Bobby Cannavale, David Hyde Pierce, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Alan Cumming and George Takei.
Why Major Stars Are Risking It All to Perform a Play They Won’t Read Until Opening Night
Forbidden to leave his country, Iranian playwright Soleimanpour transcribed his experience of isolation into this unique stage work. The play premiered at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it won a series of awards. It has since been translated into 15 different languages and performed globally; the show made its Off-Broadway debut March 7. “This wildly entertaining and thought-provoking theatrical piece – where no audience can see the same show twice - blends drama, comedy and social experiment,“ state press notes.
The show is presented by Maberry Theatricals in support of PEN International, working to promote literature and defend freedom of expression around the world. “We are thrilled to be working with such an extraordinary group of performers, and to be partnering with PEN International, on such an intriguing and provocative work,“ said lead producers Devlin Elliott and Tom Kirdahy in a press statement. “Each night will bring its share of surprises. We can't wait to be surprised ourselves. Remember, no cheating! Don't google this play!“
