Danny DeVito, who is currently making his Broadway debut in the revival of Arthur Miller’s The Price, will play the ringmaster in Disney’s live-action reboot of the 1941 animated classic Dumbo, according to Variety.
The story of a shy young circus elephant who has the power to fly by flapping his enormous ears, Dumbo was nominated for an Oscar for the lullaby “Baby Mine” and won the Oscar for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture.
As previously reported, the film will be a mix of live-action and CGI animation. A release date has not been announced. Ehren Kruger has written the script for the remake. DeVito and Burton previously worked together on Batman Returns.
Disney is set to reveal its live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast in theatres March 17.
