Bright Lights, Big City, the rock musical adaptation of Jay McInerney’s novel set within New York City’s culture of excess in the early 1980s, will receive a concert presentation at Feinstein’s/54 Below February 4, 2019, at 7 PM and 9 PM.
The musical by Scottish composer-lyricist Paul Scott Goodman premiered Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in 1999.
Nick Blaemire (Glory Days, tick, tick…BOOM) will lead the cast as Jaime, a dissolute fact-checker for a New Yorker-like magazine who plummets through a world of nightclubs, bars, models, and cocaine. Patrick Wilson created the role in the musical’s Off-Broadway premiere and preserved his performance in a 2004 Sh-K-Boom Records studio album.
The concert will also feature Anastasia’s Christy Altomare as Vicky, Isaac Powell (Once On This Island) as Michael, Annie Golden (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black) as Clara, and Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party) as Mom. Additional casting will be announced.
The concert will be directed by Alex Tobey, music directed by Ben Caplan and produced by Jen Sandler.
Tickets are $30-$75, with a $25 food and beverage minimum. Visit 54below.com.
