Roundabout Theater Company’s Underground season celebrated the official opening of Jiréh Breon Holder’s Too Heavy For Your Pocket October 5. The new play, which takes audiences back to the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, began previews in the company’s Black Box Theatre September 15.
Set in Nashville in the summer of 1961, the story follows 20-year-old Bowzie Brandon, a young man who gives up a life-changing college scholarship to join The Freedom Riders on their journey into the Deep South.
