The Public Theater kicked off its annual festival of experimental theatre, Under the Radar, January 4. The 14th UTR Festival is a 12-day event featuring 26 contemporary and experimental works from around the U.S. and the world.

Scheduled for the first evening were performances of Margarete, in which Janek Turkowski attempts to reconstruct the portrait of an unknown woman he discovered on the reels of old film found in a North German market; After, a follow-up piece from the Obie-winning Andrew Schneider and his team blending high-octane light and sound effects with deft physical performance; and lip sync maestro and intrepid drag performer Dickie Beau’s Hamlet-inspired solo piece Re-Remember Me.
