News Broadway's Wicked Passes Billion-Dollar Mark at the Box Office The long-running Broadway musical has now taken in over $1 billion.
The Broadway production of the international hit musical Wicked, which opened in October 2003, has grossed more than $1 billion solely from its Broadway box office. The Stephen Schwartz-Winnie Holzman musical reached this milestone in 12.5 years, faster than any other Broadway production.

The musical, based on the Gregory Maguire novel, joins The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera as the only shows to have grossed $1 billion on Broadway.

Worldwide, Wicked has amassed nearly $4 billion in global sales and has been seen by nearly 50 million people. The musical has been performed in more than 100 cities in 14 countries around the world (U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, The Philippines, Mexico and Brazil) and has been translated into six languages: Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese.

The musical is currently the 10th longest-running production in Broadway history.

The Broadway company currently stars Rachel Tucker as Elphaba, Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Judy Kaye as Madame Morrible, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Jonah Platt as Fiyero, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.

The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. Wicked is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
