The Roundabout Theatre Company production of If I Forget, the newest play from Dear Evan Hansen book writer Steven Levenson, will be captured live on video by BroadwayHD, and will be available to view on demand to BroadwayHD subscribers in the fall. An exact release date is yet to be confirmed.
The new play, which explores the lasting impact of the Holocaust on a Jewish family at the beginning of the 21st century, opened to critical acclaim February 22. The limited Off-Broadway engagement will conclude April 30.
Tony winner Daniel Sullivan directs a cast made up of Maria Dizzia (Orange Is the New Black), Kate Walsh (Private Practice), Jeremy Shamos (Noises Off), Larry Bryggman (Picnic), Tasha Lawrence (Good People), Seth Steinberg, and Gary Wilmes (Irrational Man).
Performances of If I Forget take place at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.
“In the final months before 9/11, liberal Jewish studies professor Michael Fischer has reunited with his two sisters to celebrate their father's 75th birthday. Each deeply invested in their own version of family history, the siblings clash over everything from Michael’s controversial scholarly work to the mounting pressures of caring for an ailing parent,” read production notes. “As destructive secrets and long-held resentments bubble to the surface, the three negotiate—with biting humor and razor-sharp insight—how much of the past they’re willing to sacrifice for a chance at a new beginning. If I Forget tells a powerful tale of a family and a culture at odds with itself.”
The creative team includes Derek McLane (set design), Jess Goldstein (costume design), Dan Moses Schreier (original music and sound design), and Kenneth Posner (lighting design).
