Marc Bruni (Old Jews Telling Jokes) directs the production that runs through Feb. 3. Nerds received a New York workshop in June 2012. The production is billed as a pre-Broadway engagement, although an official announcement and target season for a Broadway run have not been made.
Nerds has music by Hal Goldberg and book and lyrics by two-time Emmy Award nominees Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner (The Bomb-itty of Errors, "Robot Chicken").
Ritchie (Wonderland, Thoroughly Modern Millie) plays Steve Jobs, with Bahorek (Spelling Bee, And Away We Go) as Bill Gates, Kritzer (Elf, Legally Blonde) as Myrtle and DeGarmo (Hair, Hairspray) as Sally.
The cast is completed by Benny Elledge (Chicago) as Steve Wozniak, Rob Morrison (Avenue Q) as Paul Allen, James Moye (Ragtime, The Full Monty) as Tom Watson, Matt Wilson ("Cyberchase") as Herbert and Cole Escola (Jukebox Jackie) as Dustin.
Earlier incarnations of Nerds were presented at the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival and by the Philadelphia Theatre Company in 2007, where it earned Barrymore Awards for Outstanding Original Music and Outstanding New Play.
Carolee Baxter and Lisa Grele Barrie produce the pre-Broadway production in a special arrangement with Vicki Halmos and Carl Levin.
