Two-time Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, whose new CBS sitcom Fam debuts January 10, will be among the special guests who will appear with the Tedd Firth Trio during the group's six-performance engagement at Birdland Jazz Club this month. Accomplished jazz pianist Firth is joined by drummer Mark McLean and bassist David Finck.
Special guests include Tony nominee Laura Osnes (January 10) and cabaret veteran Marilyn Maye (January 11). Mitchell will close out the engagement on January 12. Show times are 7 and 9 PM. Tickets are available here.
On January 21, Broadway favorite Mitchell will reunite with his Ragtime and Shuffle Along co-star, six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, for Let Freedom Ring!, a free tribute concert in honor of the late Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Kennedy Center Hall.
The 6 PM concert will be live-streamed on the Kennedy Center Facebook and YouTube pages and at kennedy-center.org. Free tickets (up to two per person) will be distributed on the day of the performance starting at 4:30 PM at the entrance to the Hall of Nations, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow seating will be available at Millennium Stage North (near Eisenhower Theater) for patrons to view a simulcast of the performance. More info is available here.
